May 30th - June 1st, 2008 - White Wall Paint
When we arrived on Friday, we were so very happy to see that our contractor, Jim Dance had given us more to do inside the West Wing. We had called him up during the week and asked if he could take some time to do some finish work inside, so we could finish up the West Wing. He did, and we were so very happy. There are now no doors leading from the West unit to Equinox (the middle unit). The rooms now feel very finished. Here are the pictures from when we arrived on Friday. There used to be a doorway here!
There used to be a doorway here, too!
And the bead board in the upstairs bathroom had also been installed.
We also noticed that the new furnace for the West Wing was delivered as well:
Once we were done marveling at all the changes that can occur during the course of a short week, we got down to work. We sanded the kitchen walls that Jeremy had skim coated last weekend. We also sanded areas of the kitchen ceiling that need to be treated with Calcimine Recoater. And we sanded all the new drywall that had been mudded. Here's what the kitchen looked like when we started on Friday.
Saturday morning I started on priming. First, I used the Calcimine Recoater on the Kitchen ceiling there were a few spots that needed it - and since it's an oil based primer, I also used it to cover the knots of the new baseboard trim and bead board. It worked really well. Here are the pictures after priming:
Saturday night we painted the ceilings. Then Sunday morning, I was able to finish painting the kitchen, and the trim in the living room and bedroom.
We broke for lunch, and I was treated to a wonderful birthday meal at Shaw's Lobster in New Harbor. Wow. I had no idea there was a great lobster pound right there in New Harbor with an amazing view and really good food. We even noticed an open bar area downstairs that could have been somewhere in the Caribbean. After lunch I took the kids home, and Jeremy finished up. He was able to finish the final coat on the walls and got the ceilings touched up. He even was able to sand our bathroom walls so we can put primer on next weekend. It was a very productive weekend. I took a few pictures outside before I left since it was such a beautiful, sunny day. The West Wing exterior is almost done except for finish paint.
Next weekend we'll have to demolish the porch roof (it's sagging) and we'll have lots of cleaning and staging to do!Posted by Laura 6/1/08 10:21 PM Return to Pemaquid Beach Home Page from White Wall Paint
