June 6th - 8th, 2008 - Staging Home For Sale
This week when I arrived on Friday, I was stunned to see that the French Drain had been installed and the front, side and back yard had all been graded. This spring we had a river running under Lupine, so we had to do something about the water. We spent too much time and money on the structural soundness of the building to have it be washed away in a few years. The French Drain solution was suggested by many different contractors and engineers, so we decided to listen to them. Jeremy came up on Thursday, and he had warned me it was going to be dramatic but I still wasn't prepared for how good it looked. Here's the before and after pictures of the yard. Before:

Then I went into Lupine. We have ceilings!
Then I ran into the West Wing to look at the bathroom floor that had been refinished. Here's what the bathroom used to look like:
Now here's what it looks like (yes, the window has been moved about 5 inches to the right).
Then I ran into Equinox to look at the newly refinished living room floor. Here's the before of that room:
Here's a picture of what it looked like after we removed the linoleum:
And here's what it looks like now:
So after all that excitement, we got to work. Jeremy finished the last of the paint in the upstairs bathroom, and I started removing the tarps and cleaning up.On Saturday we had lots of help. Dan, Jane and Abbie came at the same time as my friend Semi. Semi, Jane and I got to work on cleaning the floors. Abbie started cleaning some old bricks so we can use them to repair the chimney in Lupine. Dan and Jeremy began sanding the walls in Equinox to get them ready to be Gardz'd, skim coated, sanded, primed and painted. Sigh. The day flew by. Our realtor, Bobby Whear showed up around 3:15 to take pictures for his website. By that point, we were almost, but not quite done. I hope he was able to get just the right angle. Here are the after pictures of the fully staged West Wing unit, which is for sale!
Next week, we still have that porch roof to demo. And we have all of the walls in Equinox to skim coat, sand, and maybe even prime!Posted by Laura 6/10/08 7:35 PM Return to Pemaquid Beach home page from Staging Home for Sale
