July 4th - July 7th, 2008 - Painting Walls
We took a couple days off this week and went to Matinicus Island.
Jeremy's parents have a house there and it's always great to spend some
quiet time there. We had the beaches all to ourselves. If you are
interested in really getting away from it all. No cell phones, no
computers, no television, no restaurants, no nothing! This is their house:
We left the island on Friday and went straight to the beach house. Dan
had been there a couple of days, and when we drove up the kids were
playing Croquet on the front lawn. Nice! That was one of Jeremy's
visions, to play Croquet on the lawn. It's good that we can already
check that one off the list!On
Saturday, we hit the ground running. I finished sanding upstairs in
Equinox, and then we primed all the newly drywalled walls. Here are a
few before painting walls pictures:
The kids got to work painting the front stairs of West.
Some of Dan's friends stopped by, and even bought us lunch! Thank you!
We got back to work priming the walls.
Here are the after pictures from Saturday night with a coat of primer on the walls.
Sunday we were able to put a finish coat of paint on
the walls, and we were able to prime and paint the kitchen and hallway
downstairs.Andrew and Jane got to work painting one of the upstairs bedrooms.
Abbie and Dan prepped the hallway for priming.
Below are the after pictures of the finish coat on the walls.
Jeremy stayed and worked from home on Monday and was able to finish
staging the West Wing Monday night. The finishing touches make
all the difference, and there's a tour of real estate brokers coming
through on Wednesday so we really had to get these things completed
this weekend. The result is just spectacular. Check out the difference
it makes in the upstairs bathroom.
On Monday, Jim and Larry were able to get a large
portion of the rear deck built for West. They should have this deck
completely finished and Equinox's deck mostly complete by the end of
the week.
Andrew and Abbie finished painting the stairs and they
were put back in front. Having the stairs painted really completed the
look of the front of West, just in time for the Realtors to arrive.
Next weekend we will be finishing up painting in Equinox. We have to do
some touch-ups and we have to sand and paint the kitchen and living
room ceilings. We will also have to paint the back wall of the kitchen
behind the existing cabinetry. We also have to paint the trim before
Jim puts it up on the walls. We're almost done, and it's getting really exciting to think about the project being completed. Two more weeks should do it. Posted by Laura 7/9/08 10:37 PM
