March 18, 2008 - A Good Day's Work
The weather forecast was 40's and sunny, and for a day in March that sounded fantastic, so Jeremy and I decided to take a day off from work and continue the removal of the clapboards and shingles. This is where we had left off on Saturday:
When we arrived in Heron Cove, we caught up with our Contractor, Jim Dance, to see how he was doing. He and his associate, Larry, have been working on the posts of the unit we call Lupine. They are using footings called "Big Foots" that they put into a hole in the ground and then fill with concrete. They have used about 10,000 pounds of concrete so far and are only about half way done. This is going to be a very solid structure. Here's an example of a Big Foot:

After we were given the progress report, and talked about upcoming work to be done, we headed outside for a day of shingle/clapboard removal. There isn't much to say about the work. It's fairly easy, except when on a ladder, and then it's harder to get the leverage needed to pry them off. Here's me up on the ladder:
It was a beautiful day to be outside. We got a lot done. Here are the after pictures. Jeremy proud of our day's work:
Here are our accomplishments for the day:
I'm thrilled with what we were able to get done. We'll be back at the house on Saturday to do more siding removal.Posted by Laura 3/20/08 12:34 PM Return to Pemaquid Beach home page from A Good Day's Work
