April 19th, 2008 - This week we learned that sticking to what you know can be a good thing!
First and foremost...THANK YOU JUDY JUNGMAN!!! Judy, Laura's mom flew all the way from Michigan to see Adam and Zoe. She also provided my parents with a much needed break from the weekend babysitting marathon that they ran during the month of march. Laura and Judy took a drive to Heron Cove and Bailey Island on Wednesday so Judy could see some of the midcoast.
This week Laura and I re-discovered that we are not fond of exterior trim paint scraping and paint sanding. After spending almost all day Saturday scraping and sanding the front of the west wing, we decided to call in a pro to get the rest of the trim prepared. We have contracted Greg Holmes. He will start paint scraping, paint sanding, priming and painting by the end of next week. We've heard excellent things about him and his work. I'm looking forward to getting back to wallpaper removal this weekend! We're starting to run out of "wow" progress for the house and are now down to the nitty gritty details of interior finish work. The new exterior siding and new windows for the first floor of Equinox and Lupine should be the next major "wow" event. Jim, Larry, Greg Curtis (Electrician) and Dave Grindell (Plumber) have all been very busy. Dave has assured us that we'll have working bathrooms and heat by May 1st. Jim still thinks he will be done by May 30th. In Jim we trust...but middle of June would be fine with me if he can't make end of May. The quality and volume of work he and his crew have done is truly phenomenal. I'm just going to post a few pictures for the blog for now. Helping to organize Earthweek at Gorham Savings Bank has been a wonderful experience and I'm very proud of what we accomplished, but sleep has been in limited supply!
